It’s almost that time again…!

UPDATE_FacebookGraphic

We survived our first year at McLane Stadium! We came out a little damp but as defending Big 12 Champions! (‘One True Champion’ my ass.) Now, it’s time to spearhead year two at McLane and we are so excited to get back out there and root for our Baylor Bears!

To catch you up: By some early reports, they are working hard to fix the drainage problems that plagued us last year. Fingers crossed that it will be successful! Last year was a resounding success and we can not thank you all enough for your continued support and generosity over the course of the season! We really could not do it without the combined help of everyone.

With a new stadium, we used it as a new start to keep track of everything financially. (Yay for being grownups, right?) Last year’s total expenses totaled just under $4,000.00. While we are not buying a new TV this year, we are adding two official tailgates this season: A McLane Stadium Watch Party against Kansas and @ Cowboys stadium vs Texas Tech. With these added games, we think the total will end up roughly the same for this year.

With this said we are soliciting donations and general beverage requests with a recommended donation of $200 for the year per person. Obviously, we will make sure to have all beverages iced down and something delicious cooked up before each game and sometimes after. (All that roaring on first downs makes a fan hungry!!) Remember that you can always donate on our Facebook page or on the G&GF website under the “Donate” tabs, if that’s easier!

If you haven’t already (and we all know you have, but just in case…) go ahead and mark your calendars for the following games:

9/12/15 Home vs Lamar
9/26/15 Home vs Rice
10/3/15 Away vs Texas Tech at Cowboys Stadium Lot 4 (parking passes still available)
10/10/15 Away vs Kansas Watch Party @ McLane
10/17/15 Home vs West Virginia
10/24/15 Homecoming vs Iowa State
11/14/15 Home vs Oklahoma
12/5/15 Home vs Texas (Start praying for temperatures above 20° Fahrenheit. Would love to not have to be out in THAT again!

As many of you know, we are always looking for ways to improve tailgate and make it a better experience each game and each year. I always have an eye out for new items that would help us improve. If/when there is more donation money than what is needed to cover our costs, these are a few items that I’ve had my eye on.

A traveling/foldable propane burner – $195 (To be able to expand our food prep horizons)
A larger cooler to replace some of ours that have seen better days… – $439 (This one is pretty sweet http://amzn.to/1QbhlyK)
A high top 20×20 semi-permanent tent – $1600
Adding Brakes to the BBQ trailer – $700 (Making road games so much easier)

Make sure to check out our website and Facebook page often as we post each week’s menu, photos, videos, share articles and general G&GF goings ons. (We’d love for you to post your pictures on our Facebook too!)

Thank you again for all of your continued support. We really love tailgating and it just wouldn’t be nearly as fun without each of you!

One day until the season opener; nine days until TAILGATE and our first home game! Get pumped you guys! I know we sure are!

Go Bears!

Tailgating the Cotton Bowl!

Time to head north to cheer on our Big 12 Champion Bears!! Due to the proximity of this bowl, we will be bringing the trailer and tailgating beforehand! It’s an 11:30 am game, so join us in SILVER LOT 4 for pre-game festivities! (See the map below.) Currently, parking passes are available on StubHub. We wanted to go ahead and get an update to everyone so we can all start making plans together!

Smoking the Wildcats

TailgateMENU_FacebookGraphic

This week we are going to smoke the Kansas State Wildcats and assorted meats! Some briskets, sausages and maybe some other treats.

It will be an early morning (starting at 6am, as that’s when they start letting people in for GameDay) but this should allow plenty of time for a delicious brisket in the afternoon. We will be putting the meat on before we venture over to the GameDay set. So come early, come all day!

We will be representing those who can’t make it this week (Kyle) at the GameDay set with some flags and assorted other signs. Can’t wait to see your signs! (Keep it classy, folks.) Should be an amazing experience!

Most importantly, we have to win! Bring your rowdiest self to cheer the whole day for our defending Big 12 Champion Bears!

2 Days! Go Bears!

Happy Homecoming!

TailgateMENU_FacebookHomecoming

We are so excited to see everyone this weekend! And hopefully so many of you that we haven’t seen so far this year! We have a pretty good idea on numbers, but if you are bringing any “extras” with you, please give us a heads up so we can accommodate. Don’t want anyone going hungry!

After two very wet and soggy tailgates, the weather looks to be BEAUTIFUL for tailgate this weekend!! So come out early and stay late. We will have the Homecoming parade on the TV in the morning. After the game, we are looking forward to sitting around the fire pit and roasting marshmallows with everyone.

On this week’s menu: Fajitas! Served with all of the fixings. We are planning to serve around noon. See everyone Saturday. Come one; come all! 3 days!

Go Bears!
