The Longest Offseason

 UPDATE_FacebookGraphic

As Baylor alumni and fans, it’s been a rough summer. Very rough. But the countdown to kickoff is on. 50 days from now we will start a new season of football and tailgating. Come September 2nd, we will have some new faces to meet and greet, old faces to embrace and some green and gold faces to cheer along side of.

Through all of the darkness, we are having to find new ways to start getting excited. We’re thinking about how to make the Green and Gold Tailgate experience greater. This last weekend we were testing out new Pandora stations. We’re working on some new recipes. And we are getting really excited! Excited to see you all, share some good food and enjoy our beloved Baylor.

Get ready to come early, stay late, cheer loud and support our Bears! If you need a little help getting pumped, may I suggest tuning into the Lil Jon Pandora station. (Not exactly family friendly, so listen at your own risk!)

50 days friends…50 days. Go Bears!

Yet another breakfast…

Menu_BreakfastTacos

A good breakfast gets you going to cheer loud and proud for the Bears. We will have breakfast taco materials hot and ready at 9AM or before. Don’t worry about the cool morning as we will have heaters and the fire pit going to keep the chill off.

After the game and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are having leftovers! We have some uncooked leftovers in the freezer that will be that perfect after game meal while watching more football. Pork Chops, Callie’s green beans and who knows what else.

Hope to see you all Saturday.

GameDay, Tailgate, Blackout
(the game…not you)

MENU_FacebookGraphicBlack

GameDay is back in black! We will be out there early, all day and out late. We plan to get to the stadium around 7am so we can set up prior to GameDay. You’re on your own for breakfast this week, but we will make up for that at the Texas game. (Can I get a whoohoo for another 11am game?!…….no? Ok then.)

We are cooking two meals this weekend. We will be serving tacos for lunch, after GameDay concludes. We tried them out at Jerry World and I think they are ready for some primetime action!! We will have standard hard and soft tacos and will also be doing Callie’s favorite: the walking taco! (She recommends trying it with Cheetos!) They were delicious and we are excited to share them with everyone! Our second meal will be around 5pm to make sure everyone has plenty of energy to be loud the WHOLE game. We are smoking BBQ chicken with Callie’s homemade BBQ sauce. Candice is bringing a pot of her family’s special recipe beans. I’m sure we will end up with a few other sides as well.

After the game, we will be lounging by the fire pit with all the goodies to make s’mores!

Get ready for an amazing Saturday. Bring on the black!

3 days! Go Bears!

Rain or Shine, it’s Homecoming Time!

Menu_Homecoming

Looks like we are going to be testing out the fancy new drainage that Baylor has so kindly installed this year! (Don’t take that exclamation mark as excitement…yet, at least.) Bring your rain jackets and boots!

This week’s menu has two parts. We will be serving breakfast before the game and another meal (The meal between breakfast and lunch has a cool name but no one has come up with anything cool for the meal between lunch and dinner…Dinnch? Luncher? Weird, but whatever. We’re serving that!) after the game. With the early kickoff, we won’t have much time to enjoy each other’s company beforehand. It’s Homecoming! C’mon!

Breakfast will be served at 9:00am. Pancakes, sausage links and scrambled eggs. A great way to start the day! We will have orange juice and Bloody Mary mix as well. Part of a fully balanced breakfast, right?

After-game meal: Bone in pork chops, our fancy green beans, and yummy potato casserole! We may end up with some other sides as well, but these are the confirmed choices.

We will also have some new brews from the brewery in good ol’ WACO! We will have two beers on tap from Bare Arms Brewing. We’re pumped! (Get it? A keg pun?) : )

There is a survey up on the G&GF blog for you to weigh in on which (none, one or all) meals you’ll be up for joining us for. With the weather actin’ a fool, we are trying to purchase enough without being wasteful. PLEASE cast your vote here! —-> Homecoming Food Survey

We really hope to see everyone this weekend. Come early, stay late and SIC’EM BEARS!

Redemption Tastes Best in the Morning

Menu_BreakfastTacos

I know that 11am kickoffs aren’t the most fun, but we are going to make the most of it. Breakfast tacos will be served at 9am! Come hungry for breakfast and redemption for last year’s disappointing and lackluster performance in Morgantown. Let’s beat those Mountaineers!

Post game, our plan is still to head out to Goldthwaite to partake in the Goldthwaite Music Festival. GMF is a great event in a beautiful setting, just 90 miles west of Waco. Tons of bands from ACL and SxSW will be playing. It’s a really cool experience! We would love to see all of you out there as well!

Don’t worry, if you want to hang around after the game and continue to tailgate, Kyle and family will still be around to continue watching the afternoon games.

Can’t wait to see you all soon! 4 Days!

Go Bears!

A Green & Gold Update

UPDATE_FacebookGraphic

Hi all,

I know you probably weren’t expecting an email this week with our Bears playing in Kansas, but I wanted to remind you all that Saturday is the Bear Foundation Appreciation Watch Party, taking place at the stadium. We’ll gather with our fellow fans and cheer on our Bears from the turf at McLane. We will be there, but it does not seem like there will be any tailgating. The Bear Foundation will be serving food and will have fun activities for the kids such as inflatables and bounce houses. The gates open at 10:30am.

Find more information here: Bear Foundation Appreciation Watch Party

As for our NEXT TAILGATE, the kickoff for for the game against West Virginia Game is 11:00 AM. I know it is early, but we will have breakfast and other goodies. (A more specific menu will be announced the week of the game.) Come join us!

With it being an early game, our plan is to head out to Goldthwaite after the game to partake in the Goldthwaite Music Festival. Goldthwaite Music Festival Facebook Page This is a great event in a beautiful setting, just 90 miles west of Waco. Tons of bands from ACL and SxSW will be playing.

What’s hard, soft and sometimes walking?

Menu_Tacos

We’re late! We’re late! For a very important menu date!!

All kinds of TACOS are on the menu this week! Hard, Soft, Walking…you name it! We will be in Silver lot 4. With this being our first “away” tailgate, we want to make sure we have plenty. Please let me know if you are planning to attend.Hope to see everyone Saturday!

P.S. The Rangers are also playing on Saturday and their game starts at noon, next door to Jerry World. A perfect excuse to come out early to beat the traffic and eat some tacos!

Two days! Go BEARS!!

Rice is for the Birds!
Bears eat BURGERS

Menu_Hamburgers

After a week off, we are ready to get back out there! On the menu this week, we will have hamburgers with all the fixins. Serving as celebrity pitmaster this week is Mr. Kyle Eilers!

I have some official duties to take care of before the game this week (bummer on the timing, I know). Don’t worry, we will have all the same setup, good food, and a great time as usual. Due to such an early game (2pm) we will reconvene and watch some more football at tailgate after the Bears get a full helping of Owls.

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER! Please respect the coolers of those that bring their own beer, etc. If it isn’t yours to drink, please don’t drink or share it. Be mindful of those that you bring to tailgate who may not know. We try to bring plenty of extra for those who chip in. Just ask one of us for the community chest. If we need to bring more, we are happy to. Just let us know.

Hope to see you all this weekend! 4 days!

Go Bears!
