CHILI COOK OFF IS BACK!!

MENU_FacebookGraphic

With a 2:30 kickoff for homecoming set, we’re bringing back the chili cook off!! (We would have loved to have done one last year, but chili for breakfast…ehhh.) Go bribe grandma for her secret recipe or pull the tastiest looking one off of Pinterest. Whatever it takes! It’s time they see the light of tailgate!

Bring your best batch and put it to the test! Please let us know if you are participating! And send us your meanest chili cook off game face photos! We’d love to post them as intimidation to other chefs leading up to game day.

We have a full day of food, fun and football this Saturday! We will head out to the stadium by 10:00am. We will have some sandwich stuff for lunch around noon-1pm. I’m sure we will have a few other munchie items that show up throughout the day.

We will be smoking a couple of briskets during the day for dinner. We will have the fancy green beans and baked potatoes with all the fixins to go with the brisket.

This week’s punch is a Dreamsicle Moonshine! It’s going to be delicious!! Get ready!

Obviously, we will be watching football on the TV (weather permitting). So come early, stay late and let’s eat!

Heating Up for a Rice Time!

MENU_FacebookGraphic

As perfect as the weather has been for the last two games at McLane (an anomaly at this point, I know), this week, Green and Gold Forever tailgate is heading to Houston! It’s our first traveling tailgate of the year and we’re ready! We are kicking it up a notch with some jambalaya and jalapeno cornbread!

It’s apparent that you are loving the different punches so far! We made a bigger batch last weekend and it was all gone again! Whooo! We will be doing yet another new punch with a little H-Town flavor this week.

Remember, this is another Friday night game. We will be arriving at Rice Stadium by 3pm. We will be in the GREENBRIAR LOT. It’s first come, first serve. Once we arrive and stake our claim, we’ll post more specifics on the G&GF Facebook page. (i.e. We’re in the northeast corner.) Unless the lightning is a factor, we will be flying our green BU and Chef Bear flags. Be on the look out for those.

Come join us! Let’s show those owls how tailgating is really done! (Seriously, who’s idea was it to only allow 4 hours to tailgate!?)

A Mustang Spankin’ Meal

MENU_FacebookGraphic

What a glorious start to the season! We couldn’t have phoned in better weather. And I think you guys liked the food. Everything was licked clean at the end! Thanks, everyone, for pitching in with the dishwashing chores. ?

This week we have a celebrity pitmaster. The one and only Mr. Kyle Eilers will be manning the grill! He will be cooking up some fajitas! You know how we do. All of the fixings will be provided. Kyle will be on his own with the culinary tasks this week. (Beau and I have some official Bear Foundation duties to tend to.) Fajitas call for lots of cutting, so he may need a few of you to sharpen your knife skills and pitch in. Keep an eye out, please!

I think the punch last week was a hit. It was all gone at the end of the day. Glad you liked it!

This week, we will be serving a Strawberry Margarita punch! It should be nice and tasty so be sure to try it! I’ll try and come up with a fun name between now and then. If you have an idea for an awesome name, let me know. (Comment on the Facebook post!)

This week’s game is fairly early with kickoff at 2:30 pm. Come out early and let’s get the party started! We will reconvene after the game to watch other games, so be sure to join us afterwards too!

It’s a short week, so we only have 4 days. Get ready folks!

Demolishing Demons & Some Chicken

MENU_FacebookGraphic

The season has arrived! Now, let’s eat! We’re kicking off this season with barbecued GRILLED chicken. This is a new recipe that we are giving a shot this year. A little sweet, a lotta savory and a ton of delicious. We will also have a corn and green bean medley and white mac n’ cheese with bacon crumbles. There will also be brownies! (These go QUICK, so come early! Not promising to save you one!)

We are also trying out a few tailgate cocktails this year. With the winding down of summer on the way, we’re doing a pineapple rum punch this week. We’re calling it the “Tropic Like it’s Hot Punch!” Get excited!!

We will be out at the stadium and ready to party by 1:00 pm. We will serve food between 4:00 and 5:00, so please eat lunch before heading out. Come join us for food, booze and a great crew!

4 days, folks! #HungryAlready

It’s beginning to look a lot like Tailgate!

UPDATE_FacebookGraphic

We survived another monsoon season at McLane Stadium. Hopefully, with all of the off-season mess, we have had to endure, mother nature will cut us a break weather wise. Either way, we will be out there no matter what; rain, shine or blizzard. It will be great to see all of you again.

This off-season, we have experimented with an oil-less fryer (generously gifted after the season) as well as a mini propane smoker to be used as a warming tray/oven. These should let us have some more fun dishes this year while also experiment with some new things.

So here is the fun adult stuff. Last year’s total expenses totaled just over $4,000 We can not thank all of you who donated enough. We certainly could not do everything without your generosity. We think the total will end up roughly the same for this year.

With this said we are soliciting donations and general beverage requests with a recommended donation of $200 for the year, per person. Of course, we will make sure to have all beverages iced down and something delicious cooked up before each game and sometimes after. (All the cheering that we’re going to have to do to stay pumped up will make for hungry bellies!) Remember that you can always donate on our Facebook page or on GreenAndGoldForever.com under the “Donate” tabs.

If you haven’t already (and we all know you have, but just in case…) go ahead and mark your calendars for the following games:

9/2/16 HOME vs Northwestern State
9/10/16 HOME vs SMU
9/16/16 Away vs Rice (Tailgating in Houston)
9/24/16 HOME vs OSU
10/1/16 Away vs Iowa State (Watch Party at McLane)
10/15/16 HOME vs Kansas (Homecoming)
11/5/16 HOME vs TCU
11/19/16 HOME vs Kansas State

For those in the Houston area – We will likely host a watch party or two at our home. If you are in the Houston area, we would certainly welcome another green and gold fan!

As many of you know, we are always looking for ways to improve tailgate and make it a better experience each game and each year. I always have an eye out for new items that would help us improve. If/when there is more donation money than what is needed to cover our costs, these are a few items that I’ve had my eye on:

A traveling/foldable propane burner – To be able to expand our food prep horizons
A larger cooler – To replace some of ours that have seen better days.
A high top 20×20 semi-permanent tent – $1600 (Expensive, but it would be SO NICE! And we’d only have to purchase it once!)
Adding brakes to the BBQ trailer – $700 (This would make road games much easier.)

Make sure to check out our website and Facebook page often. We post each week’s menu, photos, videos, share articles and general G&GF goings ons. (We’d love for you to post your pictures on the G&GF Facebook too!)

Thank you again for all of your continued support. As you know, we love tailgating but it just wouldn’t be nearly as fun without each of you!

Only 15 days until TAILGATE and our first home game! I know it’s a Friday evening, but we will be out there early and in full force! Join us!

Get pumped you guys! I know we sure are!

Go Bears!

The Longest Offseason

 UPDATE_FacebookGraphic

As Baylor alumni and fans, it’s been a rough summer. Very rough. But the countdown to kickoff is on. 50 days from now we will start a new season of football and tailgating. Come September 2nd, we will have some new faces to meet and greet, old faces to embrace and some green and gold faces to cheer along side of.

Through all of the darkness, we are having to find new ways to start getting excited. We’re thinking about how to make the Green and Gold Tailgate experience greater. This last weekend we were testing out new Pandora stations. We’re working on some new recipes. And we are getting really excited! Excited to see you all, share some good food and enjoy our beloved Baylor.

Get ready to come early, stay late, cheer loud and support our Bears! If you need a little help getting pumped, may I suggest tuning into the Lil Jon Pandora station. (Not exactly family friendly, so listen at your own risk!)

50 days friends…50 days. Go Bears!

Yet another breakfast…

Menu_BreakfastTacos

A good breakfast gets you going to cheer loud and proud for the Bears. We will have breakfast taco materials hot and ready at 9AM or before. Don’t worry about the cool morning as we will have heaters and the fire pit going to keep the chill off.

After the game and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are having leftovers! We have some uncooked leftovers in the freezer that will be that perfect after game meal while watching more football. Pork Chops, Callie’s green beans and who knows what else.

Hope to see you all Saturday.
-Beau

GameDay, Tailgate, Blackout
(the game…not you)

MENU_FacebookGraphicBlack

GameDay is back in black! We will be out there early, all day and out late. We plan to get to the stadium around 7am so we can set up prior to GameDay. You’re on your own for breakfast this week, but we will make up for that at the Texas game. (Can I get a whoohoo for another 11am game?!…….no? Ok then.)

We are cooking two meals this weekend. We will be serving tacos for lunch, after GameDay concludes. We tried them out at Jerry World and I think they are ready for some primetime action!! We will have standard hard and soft tacos and will also be doing Callie’s favorite: the walking taco! (She recommends trying it with Cheetos!) They were delicious and we are excited to share them with everyone! Our second meal will be around 5pm to make sure everyone has plenty of energy to be loud the WHOLE game. We are smoking BBQ chicken with Callie’s homemade BBQ sauce. Candice is bringing a pot of her family’s special recipe beans. I’m sure we will end up with a few other sides as well.

After the game, we will be lounging by the fire pit with all the goodies to make s’mores!

Get ready for an amazing Saturday. Bring on the black!

3 days! Go Bears!

-Beau
